GRAPHIC DESIGN SYMPOSIUM
Film Festival Posters
A series of posters designed for the Lo Schermo Dell’Arte art and film festival, capturing the idea of "moving images".
OVERVIEW
Lo Schermo Dell’Arte is an esteemed art and film festival held in Florence, Italy. These posters were crafted as proposed designs for the 2022 edition of the festival. I developed three example posters for selected films, along with an overarching festival poster that encapsulates the event’s spirit. These works were created during my study abroad in Florence, reflecting both the artistic and cultural immersion experienced during my time in Italy.
ROLE/SCOPE
This solo project took place during a Graphic Design Symposium class in 2022.

MY PROCESS
My direction explores how film is made up of a series of moving images that, together, create the experience as a whole.
THE IDEA
INSPIRATION IMAGES
Using Adobe InDesign, I established a consistent grid as the foundation of my design. I selected three key images from different films featured in the festival to serve as the central focus for the movie posters I created. By aligning various elements of these images with the grid, I meticulously copied and fragmented them to evoke the dynamic illusion of a moving picture, adding a sense of motion and continuity to the overall design.

MOVIE POSTERS
FESTIVAL POSTER
To design the festival poster, I applied the same grid-based approach used in the movie posters. However, instead of fragmenting a single image, I curated and combined images from multiple films, meticulously fragmenting and blending them together to craft a unique narrative. This process allowed the festival poster to tell its own story, reflecting the diverse cinematic experiences showcased at the event.
